Zwift - Group Ride: Long - Stage 1 - Tour de Zwift on Shisa Shakedown in Makuri Islands

Was planning on just riding road since we got a lot of rain and I figured the gravel would be soggy. Rode around hall lake and up to a historic log slide which was very cool to see. The ride up along the river was quite nice as well. Rode a great section of North Shore road which was paved quiet and had almost no straight sections. After getting back to highway 118 I had a choice to either take the main road back or to explore a gravel road straight ahead. Since there was a hose at the cottage and I could wash the bike easily I went for it. The gravel turned to washed out hills then turned into full on flooded road mixed with huge off camber rock slabs. So much fun and quite the adventurous section to ride. It connected with another regular gravel road where I crossed paths with John Swarbrick which was probably the most random encounter ever considering where we were.
Got back to the main road and headed straight back to the cottage after a good little effort on the hill after Canarvan. Really enjoyed riding this area like always. Glad to learn where some of the good gravel was this time.
