Medics stopped me with about 1k to go. I was wobbling a bit and tests showed I'd gone hypoglycemic. I.e. this time maybe I should have taken gels... in my mind, I was just knackered having run twelve hard miles! And yes, pace was dropping: but it always does in this race around that stage.



*NOT an epileptic seizure*. I'd have happily got up and gone, but understandably that wasn't an option. By the time they were happy to release me, I did well to sneak sub-2hrs... some sprint finish after a half hour rest, I'll tell you! They advised me "to not cane it", but...



Disappointing but I got my club membership last week. Back to the drawing board. Did I not consume enough sugar close enough to the start? Only last week I was commenting on how I'd nailed pre-HM nutrition. Should I have taken some of the gels on offer? Not dissimilar from the glucose shots the docs gave me? Well, they weren't my usual ones and they do say nothing new on race day... still, they weren't caffeine ones, so...



Time to reflect. No HMs till February. And the next one will be as flat as they come. Italy, I'm still coming after you.



The toe I kicked yesterday was fine. Wearing 9 1/2 instead of 9 (Brooks GS) worked. On that front.
