An unexpected fringe benefit of the cold weather ride is your hands stay clean if you have to tend to a dropped chain by hand, of course there is no chance ioln hell you are taking your gloves off to pause the Strava while doing so

I just had the urge. It was clean and crisp. Be that as it may, I  wasn't going to be masochistic about it.

I checked the climb segment I created eons ago in a more or less dead end corner of a development that leads to nowhere and found the it was much climbed. Ergo I rode with some alacrity.  Some might say stupidity since the sum is long behind the hill.
