Sooo this was easily the hardest thing I've ever done, MUCH harder than the distance/elevation gain would indicate. The last 20 miles seemed to go on absolutely forever and the only thing that kept me going is that I didn't actually have an option to stop. I'd fully recommend for everyone to do this at some point, just not in a day, trying to cram the whole thing in a day made this super miserable! 

It started off great, I got to ride on the trails where I did some of my very first MTB rides and just feeling of how far I've come since helped me keep a really healthy speed. All of that took a turn for the worst once I got to the hike-a-bike sections around loch lomond. Started that off by trying to climb over some super gnarly rocks, I lost balance and fell down a small cliff on the side of the trail. I somehow came off that unscathed, but I lost a massive amount of confidence pretty much immediately. What followed was like 20km of me failing to ride basic stuff and hiking through sections which would've been difficult even if I wasn't carrying a bike, could literally hardly fit through some trees/rocks.

After this, I was pretty much broken for the rest of the ride, had another crash, bent my front rotor carrier (managed to bend back) and bent my dropper leaver (still kind of worked, but I ended up having to high-post for most of the descents after this). Kept going forward because I was running out of daylight and didn't bring proper lights, was an absolute zombie for the last four hours, just trying my best not to wipe out on the descents.

Overall, it did still feel like an absolutely epic ride, the scenery was stunning and the trails were solid (apart from the f-ing hike-a-bike around loch lomond). I was actually kind of thrown off by how gnarly some of the descents were, could have easily justified an enduro bike /body armor for a lot of em.
