What a special day! I’ve never ridden 200k in November, so that was my plan for today. I improvised my route as I went, opting to skip Eardley in favour of Lac-des-Loups. I’m glad I did, I’d forgotten how fantastic it is! As I rolled along River Rd. Toward Wakefield, a gentlemen in a Honda Element offered to motor-pace me to Wakefield. Since I was already on the rivet all day to try to fit 200 in before dark, I was all for it: “Yes please!” “How fast do you want to go?”, he asked. “40?” “Ok!” Wow, what fun, we rolled the next 10k really well, a proper taste of chasing back onto the peloton. Except I was chasing a number that means little, yet everything. When we came to the highway I thanked him and introduced myself. We both got a kick out of it. Thanks Malcolm!! So yeah, that’s how I got the KOM!
