During the warm up ride, I made an interesting discovery - I hurt my aerodynamics by looking down at the computer. It raises the tail of my pointy helmet, which then turns into a sail. That can be easily fixed by moving the computer to the very front of the aero bar. It's interesting that I spend half a year training for this event and I only realize this 15 minutes before the start. Of course, I didn't have enough time to move the computer but it's an improvement opportunity for next time.

I felt pretty good during the warm up - I found it easy to produce power. Last week of short (but intense) rides made a huge difference. I typically operate in a state of permanent fatigue because I ride a lot. I sometimes struggle to keep up with the bunch on Fridays because I am tired. A little bit of rest does wonders. 

The start, nevertheless, was messy. I failed to start the ride on my Garmin and when I tried to fix it, the screen went all blank. Eventually I got it fixed but the start was not pretty. Then I got steady and I was actually enjoying the ride. I was producing more power and going faster than in any time trial before. So there IS some improvement.

On the way back I realized I am being too comfortable. I pushed harder in the last 3 km... got my 20 min power record... but I did leave some watts on the track in the 2nd and 3rd quarter of the race. I can do better... Max HR was only 163 - a year ago I had a max of 172 in the TT champs... this year was way too calm!

Very happy with the final result though. #11 in the open category, #5 in masters. It was a nice day and a nice race - thanks to QCF and all other riders!
