Ok - I admit it... Gamification got me... when I saw the #mission48500 badge, I wanted to have it... originally planned to start around midnight on Friday, but weather forecast said rain until 8 in the morning. So I started at 9 - bad decision since this meant riding the whole night... Soloing for 24hrs is certainly a mental exercise and there was literally no one to drag me during the whole ride... getting food and something to drink was quite challenging after 22:00 - thanks to the nice Indian guy in this Pizza shop that sold me a 1l bottle of coke and the to people running some gas stations all night to sell me 2 cans of this ugly energy drink - otherwise I would have fallen asleep for sure. Plan was to climb ~3000m - that is what Komoot showed me during planning... I realised after 250km and 1400m of climbing done that there is no chance to climb another 1600 - but it was a little late for re-planning. The aero bars are a blessing for my hands - always struggled with numb fingers after ~400km, this time the only issue I had was some aching in my neck because of bending my head all the time... will raise them another 5cm next time I go on such a long ride. The route is really nice if you want to get started into such a distance because towards the end you pass a lot of small villages and seeing some lights every now and then helps me a lot mentally. Also, most of the roads are cycling tracks with little traffic. Only the roads at the beginning of "Neckartal" after Heidelberg were a little annoying.
