It's not so much that I was counting grams as that I forgot my socks.

Also forgot my running belt, so took my too-large vest which flopped uncomfortably.

Not the effort I intended, but a solid mod-hard climb. Thought I'd pick it up on the steeper trail sections, but the rocks were so slippery and I'm so unsure of my foot even though it feels solid, so took no chances and slowed down to avoid any more mishaps. 

Already getting warm and very humid at the start. It felt so nice to break above the trees and get a cool, stiff breeze. Spent some time drying my feet and applying some tape to spots that were feeling the effects of no shoes.

Nice views and cool air made me want to longer along the ridge. Heading down I was slower than going up because of the treacherous slick rocks and my low confidence in my footing right now. I'm like a baby deer on ice on the slick rocks.

Nice to get up Mansfield finally. I'll be back. I think I could go under 45 minutes on this VK segment on better conditions with fresh legs.

Poor planning led me to only do the Strava segment, and not the FKT-tracked route, which starts at the bottom of the road. That would have added another 0.9 mi and 240 ft of gain. I'd still have been under an hour, likely... next time, I guess.
