Formerly named “Routed Wall” this trail has been hastily renamed “Rooted Wall.”  The trail takes a route up a short steep climb (the wall) that is covered in many roots.  Confusingly, the bypass around the rooted wall retains it’s original “Routed Wall” spelling.  This signage change informs the rider that the bypass is the smoother and less rooty route, and that the route up the wall is rooty. 

Australian riders or those familiar with the nation’s ribald slang will understand the rootier route’s name amusing as rooting is slang for fucking in that country.  This could suggest that the roots on the rooty route will give you a real fucking if you take the wrong line, or it may imply a pejorative statement akin to “fuck those those fucking roots.”  

Once riders arrive at the top of the rooted wall or the routed bypass they will arrive at a trail named “Chalet.”  In a future episode we will discuss how this trail was named, but clever readers may be able to ascertain the rationale for this trail name on their own.
