Morning Run

Props to Mark for building and promoting such an awesome loop! Tough climbs, ridge rambling, off-trail navigation- this course had it all!

Shooting for sub-4hrs. 
Started at 0800, really wet on the trail. At mile 1 I twisted my ankle which kind of limited what I could do on the techy descents. Calves were super tight on the climb. Feet were falling asleep because I tied my shoes too tight. Stopped and adjusted them and it felt better. Made it to the turn off for windy ridge in 58ish minutes. I knew I had to make it to that point pretty close to an hour in order to hit the 4 hr mark. IMO it’s pretty much impossible to push the pace on the ridge- all you can to is try to keep moving, pick good lines and know where you are going. The cloud coverage was super dense along the ridge so pretty much was relying on my gps track on my watch. Made it to hawk peak in 2:01. Descended into full canyon and missed merging onto the trail so spent some unnecessary time bushwacking. Moved pretty well past the wreckage and onto tubal Cain. Hit the tubal Cain trailhead at just under 3hrs. My right quad tightened up right as I hit the road heading up dirty face. Smashed two gels and crawled up the ridge. Felt better on the second half of the climb (it’s also not as steep I feel like). My first time running up it and it was tough. I was questioning whether or not I was going to make it- 1 hour and 4 miles seemed like a stretch when I was walking at 25min mile pace lol. Hit the mt Townsend turnoff at 3:35 at which point I knew I had it.
