2nd by one point in the Sprint and “Flying Goals” Classifications

The goal at the start of the day was to get in the break and go for some mountain/sprint points… and welp I did just that! Really happy with a solid day of sending it in the break and giving it all of the beans! Learned a lot today and I’ll take the lessons going forward to hopefully make it stick next time!

Attacked to a lone leader in the first 15 km and dropped him shortly after. Got caught by two others on the first climb and rode with them for the next 40 km or so. Picking up some solid sprint and mountain points in the process. They dropped me on the 3rd climb, but I got caught by a group of 4 super strong dudes shortly after (Spanish TT and RR champ, plus Portuguese rider who won Vuelta a Itzulia and Besaya) and we worked our way back to the leaders. They dropped me on the 4th climb and I got caught by a shattered “peloton” of 30 or so riders with around 35km to go and about 80 km in. Finished in the middle of that group after feeling pretty dead from the earlier efforts!
