I forget that people don’t know that I’ve been a type one diabetic since 2005. Most of the ride today was trying to survive low blood sugar. I stayed on top of eating but the elevation and heat were a bad combo for letting the glucose get absorbed vs used. Having a constant glucose monitor is really insightful especially since I can read my numbers on my Garmin. That plus overheating meant I needed to hang back. I don’t know many people who can function well when their blood sugar is in the 50s let alone safely completing a climbing ride.  A typical normal person averages between 70-120 to put that into perspective. As the smooth one always says… disability is not inability. A2S
