Recon ride to see if there is an alternative to get from Vernonia to Jewell while avoiding highways 47 and 202.  Headed out on Kelsea road to test the possibility...at mile 9 the road turned to gravel, and about a mile after that there was a gate across the road (which was actually open) and it was clear that it was going to be rough past that point.  Guess I should have been tipped off by the term "Jeep" in "Boeck Ranch Jeep Road" on the route :-)  Anyway at that point I turned around, headed back to Vernonia, and then took the Banks-Vernonia trail down to Stubb Stewart State Park and then headed back.  Tried to have lunch in Vernonia but it was really slim pickings so I drove over to Hop Cycle in Banks.  All in all a great ride...while not what I had hoped to do the route was enjoyable, the body felt pretty good, and the bike performed well.  One observation is that e-Bikes are really changing the game in terms of who I see out riding these days.  Lots of older folks in places I would never expect to see them.  All good :-)
