Amazing race ! Perfect conditions with a warm day and almost dry roads. Recap below 

Race started really fast from the beginning and I went into T1 2nd with other contenders really close and the leader in sight (5s gap I'd say). HR was already off the charts. 

Took the lead of the race very quickly after a good transition and I was rapidly followed by Marc Flavin (who won the race on my first Naas by blasting me on the bike). This time I wouldn't let him go and we spent the whole bike course overtaking each other. I was faster up the hills and he was stronger on the flat and descents. After 5k Paul Caroll blasted us and went for victory on his own, he was on a totally different league, we just saw him at the halfway point when we turn back. 

Bike course was really tough, I guess the 194 avg HR speaks for itself. Tough battle with Marc and it created a small gap with the rest of the race attack after attack. I felt like I wouldn't be strong over the run and I knew Marc Flavin wouldn't be as marked as I'd be after the bike so I had to create a gap. I attacked on the last hill and made a 15s difference, I increased it ever so slightly with a good T2 and started the run in 2nd position. 

At that point I could only dream of staying there,  Paul Caroll was minutes away from us and there was a strong pressure from behind. The last run felt slow, I was really exhausted and couldn't pull a proper stride.  I got to the last stretch and turned back expecting to see Marc Flavin, he was there but with another completely unexpected athlete... If this guy closed the gap we had after T2, he was probably in good running shape, and he was also leading after the first run. I had to launch a sprint from really far to avoid a comeback and it kinda worked, the gap held on and I finished second. 

Big shoutout to Clara who did her first duathlon today and decided to begin with the national championship (ez shakeout ye know). 

I gave it all and was rewarded the best possible place today, Paul Caroll was simply on another planet today! 

Also I guess if that's the only race in national series, it means I'm 2nd overall in 2021 ? 
Edit : according to TI twitter it was the "national championship" so I'm the "national vice champion" wtf ???
