Ate and slept well last night. In the process of setting 3 alarms, I inadvertently turned off the first two. But made it to the start with plenty time to spare.

There were a few goals for this event - last race of the current training block. It was supposed to be a marathon but with the way summer turned out and projects that needed my attention over the last three weeks, half marathon felt challenging enough. 

Based on how the last week's 5k went and how I felt afterwards, I thought I could hold 7:00-7:15 for today. Started a bit conservative and by the end of mile #3, I felt like I was a in good groove. The groove didn't last very long however and I struggled to hold or pick up the pace in any meaningful fashion. If not for friendly faces of Laura and Jeff appearing at several points during the race, I'd have struggled much more.

The official finish time was 1:43:30. Achieved the goal of finishing the race and running the entirety of distance. Missed the goal of holding miles in the 7:00-7:15 range - in spite of donning white arm warmers just like Eliud Kipchoge!

Good outing. Grateful for friends, health (no pain anywhere other than the usual race fatigue and pain of pushing slightly past the current fitness level) and progress. A detailed report on the training block and this event will follow in a few days.
