I decided to focus my efforts for Macopin today deciding to put an effort to compare my time to last year. I got out relatively quick trying to hold on to 14 mph for the first section. It was rough and probably a little too fast but a held on for the flat section. I recovered a little in the false flat section and managed to recuperate. Through the rollers I kept my speed around 17-18 on the false flats and 14-15 on the 5-6% areas. It worked where I decided to ride at a steady tempo on the lights sections and kick up the efforts off the saddle went the grade went up. I managed to finish strong at the top seeing myself PR from 12:46 over 13:16 last year and placing 8th. I tried to continue my speed through the flats leading to Westbrook but I was really feeling tired in the legs so I decided to ride steady. Though I still placed 5th on the full segment seeing the juniors take up 4 in the top 5 of the full segment. Comparing my times to last year it seems that early on I went at a similar speed but unlike last year I was able to sustain that speed towards the end. Once again this seems to be good signs in my fitness so far.
Some gatorade and 45 mph down otterhole was a nice way to recover from the effort. I Felt it a little today after the squats yesterday but nevertheless I managed to push my way through Macopin and towards the end.
