Woefully unprepared, first time riding with glasses and they don't work well at these temps (fog up too easily when trying to cover nose with buff). Should have worn ski goggles. The main problem, though, was my toes. I just wasn't prepared for sustained below zero temps. I needed to wear my hiking boots (which I had with me in my backpack) from about 10 miles into the ride. Just miserable to try to ride clipless pedals like that, so next year I will finally make the switch to flat pedals on my fat bike. Clipless pedals are just too cold (when paired with compatible winter shoes). You've got to go flat pedals to distribute the force across your foot along with more flexible winter boots to help keep the blood flowing throughout your feet - this is the only way to keep your toes warm.
