Epic, exhausting, rewarding hike through the Black Mountains NE of Asheville. A handful of 6,000 foot peaks, some of the most beautiful pine forests in the South, and a turnaround at the highest point this side of the Mississippi. Started with a 4 mile 3,000 foot climb then it was ridge hiking up and down each mountain until Mitchell. The views from Celo knob were amazing and you could make out Linville gorge as well as several peaks near Boone from several overlooks throughout. Incredible day!
