A strong headwind in all directions, spritzy rain, green slimy roads, rainbows!



If I hadn't been so lame in the morning and I'd left on time (instead of 6 hours late) I would have done the 170km / 4000m ride I planned, to try all the super-steep little climbs along the mountains on the way toward Kutsuki. As it was, I was pressed for time and sort of drained of motivation.



But some of the climbs are really nice.  The "Kurihara" climb is beautiful.  The "Blueberry Fields" one is brutal... more-so on the slow flat that started halfway up. Was pretty flat by the time I finished. It didn't help my mood that the valve came unscrewed into my pump, despite my having used Loktite on it. Sigh. Teeth to the rescue.



The Myodokai climb is sort of standard, but yields some nice views. I'd show you, but I forgot my good camera, and the iPhone camera wouldn't do it justice.



Happy about the PR up Hieizan. The PR going down is simply because I finally didn't have a car in front of me. With the wet roads, I just costed slowly (my cadence for the whole thing was zero), but it's always a pleasure to have the road to oneself.

This ride puts my Eddington Number to 51.
