I knew it was likely one of these six races would have someone come in fresh-legged and end my bid for 6 straight wins.  Today was that day.  Fortunately for me, I could tell from the start that I had no shot at victory (the winner ended up running a 1:16) so at least I would be able to take it easy.

The problem was I thought I was in third place the whole race as one of the marathoners got a bit confused and ran with us half marathoners.  So when I had a newbie young lady nipping at my heels for most of the race, I couldn't fully relax as I didn't want to give up third.  When I finished and found out I was in second the whole time, it was a surprise.

It is likely this course was a little short.My GPS always measures short but I think it is about .25 short.  Maybe we lent that .25 to the race yesterday that was long.  ;)

Either way, official time of 1:31:38 is my fastest half in just under 5 years.  Kudos to young Sarah (sp?) for being the first woman and third overall in her first half-marathon ever!

Still have three more to go.  Legs are sore and tired but we are now halfway done.  My hat goes off to all those running the marathons every day.  Just an insane amount of fortitude, no matter the pace.
