Camped at the riverside the night before. Crossed a strong river to other side to start the route. Made it to the top with clear skies and mountain air. We reached the top at 2:30. You could see the ocean it was so clear out. Started to descend, that’s when things slowly became bad. First the fog started to roll in. Then it we realized how much time we had left for light. Towards the end the jarring descent takes a toll on your body and you have to pull over to gather yourself multiple times. There were multiple active rockslides. There are also about 20 hike a bike sections as Dave counted. The sunset was incredible, no photos could capture it. Dave got two punctures. We ran out of light on the last 4K down. Dave lost his light to the descent so we both had to use mine. Then finished up an exhausting ride by fighting that same strong river at the end m. We both made it safely back to the other side.  This is the most difficult ride I’ve done. The stats don’t tell you how rocky and technical it was. Or how much mud gummed up our drivetrains. It also doesn’t show how steep some of the section actually are. Glad it’s done!
