Advent Advent ein Lichtlein brennt - heut' denn schon mal vier.

First the Organizers changed the course and added another 380 elevation meters. That didn't help with achieving my target time of below 9 hours. Then, arriving 45 mins before the start at the start line, was too late, I guess I was lined ab in the rear quarter of the 5000 participants. Up to Ötz, the beginning of the Kühtai climb, was a frantic catching the front race, trying to make good as many positions as possible before the first climb. I felt really really strong, also up Kühtai I felt much stronger than in any of the Training attempts, this great flow actually continued up to Brennero, just overtaking non stop thousands of riders. But then disaster happened as I missed our race support team at Brenner, meaning I was running dry at the bottom of Jaufenpass and popped 3km before the summit. 1km before the summit I was lucky to find an official food and drinks stop, it was like heaven😁. I probably overdosed on carbs, so that I felt a bit spaced out on the following decent. Just flying is nicer, the decent was so much fun on closed roads, absolutely mesmerizing, I don't remember last time that I descended with so much confidence and speed. Next Team support just before entering Timmelsjoch worked just fine and I was perfectly fuelled up, but hadn't really recovered from popping on Jaufen, before. Timmelsjoch was an ordeal, no power left, had to keep heartrate at fully sustainable levels, but began cramping again half way up, that's when more people overtook me than I was overtaking, game over, just happy I managed to reach the finish line. Official time 9:03 hrs.
