Cot damn that was good! Better than any drug I've put in my body 💊 Wish I could just do this forever.

Weather was perf, started out nice and cool. Even got chilly eating lunch on the dam pond but got plenty sweaty on the long NCT climbs. Really, I couldn't have dialed it up any better. 

Didn't remember the Timber Creek to 5mile section being so rooty. Lower back was feeling it right from the start, got kinda worried it might be a long day but after I let just a tad of air out it wasn't too bad. Quite the opposite- the section from 5mile to Big M was a lot smoother than I recall it being last time and really enjoyed rallying through there holding a good pace. Dilling Rd to Coates is a bit overgrown in spots. Arms don't work well as hedge trimmers so they got kinda tore up. Lots of trees down there too, only half required dismounts. The Coates to Marilla section was a bit more problematic with them coming during gnarly descents or steep climbs (but that's basically what that whole section is lol). 

Took a gamble making some last minute cockpit adjustments to hopefully relieve pressure spots on the hands (felt Lumberjack for weeks afterwards). It definitely helped and improved handling dropping the stem down. 

Schrooms we're poppin! 🍄 Swear there was even new stuff that sprouted up that day- seemed like tons more when I came back later on the return leg. Lots of silkworm webbing hanging in the forest, struggled to to ignore it accumulating on my face and inevitably had to take a hand off the bars (the opportunities for which are few and fleeting on this trail). 

Plenty of near misses catching trees with forearms or just the tip of the bars, but that's standard for the Marilla-Dilling Rd section and it wouldn't be a proper NCT ride without it. This is the only trail that consistently causes me to "Wooo!" like Rick Flair. It was quite generous with the bountiful joy it bestowed upon me today. One of my best rides OAT. 🥰 😊
