Mission accomplished: a sub-4 hour commute that hit the Purisima Creek trail and Montebello dirt to Black Mountain. My 1st time riding in the new tunnel -- pretty nice. Its time savings, and some tailwind on the PCH, helped me get to Skyline in a record 2 hours flat. Started fading later on the Bella Vista trail in hot sun. I still like taking it over the fireroad since it's hard-packed without gravel. Most of Purisima was a joy, but there was a little too much new gravel near the top. I barely cleared it all with my skinny tires.
