Afternoon Workout

That hurt. My legs were heavy and they  failed to move. I could blame it on the hangover and the lack of sleep last night but I think I’ve just got used to running on flat road, so this was a bit of a shock to the system. 

I needed a challenge, so I looked for a local FKT which would work, logistic wise 🚗 and saw that my friend Louise G 🅥 had an FKT for the Octagon Way. She wouldn’t mind me attempted to knock her off the top spot and I know she will soon be back to beat me, she’s a far better runner after all. It’s all a bit of fun. 

Can’t say I enjoyed this, I struggled to get into a rhythm and my eyes were watering most of the time so I saw through foggy tears - so much for the great countryside views. I’m hoping eye drops will help. 

This was a lovely route though, a little muddy in places but highland cattle and a family of deer made my day. Hardly any people except at Stansted. Garmin helped my follow the route to a T. Shoes not great today, crumpled my toes. 

I want to re-attempt this in spring to see if my trail fitness has improved. I’m confident it will have. Vowed to hit the trails more often from now on. After all, it’s my happy place 🥰
