So psyched about this win! 

The lap was around 15 miles and had over 1k feet of climbing. The field was strong with a mix of USAC elite men and ECCC A riders. A couple riders got up the road on the first lap and the racing got under way soon after. The course was hard and dynamic and made for many separations and regrouping. After the second lap we brought back the two up the road and soon there was another move to get up the road. I was finding myself coming to the front easily on a long paved descent before a hard ride hander drag up through the feed zone. This made for a selection with three of us on the third lap. There were now two small groups ahead of us. We got separation and reeled in group 2 on the road by the climb before the finish. There was a regrouping after the finish and our group of three plus the break got caught by another few chasers making a group of about eight. We started working together well and brought the gap down from 1 minute to 40 seconds to the two leaders half way through the last lap. We soon caught one of the riders. Now we were heading down the descent again and I made sure to be first, getting a small gap. I railed the right hander and sprinted up through the feed zone getting a gap. I keep the gas on over the top and nuked the bombed out descent. I was scared of the long flat before the final climb. Once I got onto it I caught the leader and he rode on my wheel, trying to help as he could. I could see the group behind and the gap was not massive. I just kept pushing. Once we started to hit the slopes of the climb I was slightly relieved since I thought I could hold onto a gap here. I did all I could to keep moving up the hill and the rider with me dropped off there and I finally saw the top, once there it was only 200meters to go and I just pushed to the end. And I did it! Took my first elite win on the road!
