Made it into a promising early break, but the race got neutralized because apparently someone missed the start. So we got another strong 5-man breakaway going with Tyler Williams and Clever Martinez, eventually teammate Will Cooper bridged up with Robigzon Oyola of Medellín. So an extremely solid move, no GC threats, but that didn’t stop Echelon and whoever else from chasing us down by the time we reached the Devil’s Den switchback descent, which was also about the time the heavy rain started. After the big climb of the day, Allan Schroeder attacked and ended up solo with a gap up to 1:30 on the group, and was off the front for over an hour. Definitely the hero of the day, major props. He couldn’t quite stick it, with the whole Echelon team chasing and the rest of the peloton slavering over the impending uphill finish. The run into the last climb got pretty hectic but guest rider Owen was in pretty good position. Trying some last ditch efforts to make up time on GC, but it wasn’t to be. Still good to know we can mix it up at the front of the peloton.
