A week of structured workouts is nice for a change. It feels good to have some form of routine again.

6x~5.5 km efforts on the Leslie Loop w/ Max Bradwin. 
-2 steady, 2 tempo, 2 threshold/Vo2

After rolling smooth turns for the first 5 reps, we mixed it up on the last by doing a solo effort/individual pursuit. Max gave me a 15" head start and my goal was to not let him catch me; his goal, obvious, to catch me! But how would he go about that? And how would I go about my goal? Clearly, he had chosen to try and get me as early as possible into the rep, as he nearly had me in the first 2km closing the gap down to ~5" at one point! The majority of the close happened within the opening km of the effort too! The boy has some high-end power!! Luckily, I was a bit more conservative with my approach. I tried to be smooth with my effort in the opening km's to build towards my max on the more punchy section of the loop with the rollers on Leslie. I was able to increase the gap back out a bit here and hold him off. Although at the time, I thought he was still within 5" so I pressed pretty hard on the back half. Just need to channel being chased by Max in my races when trying to make a breakaway split 😜.  In the end, we both had the same splits for the loop! A bit of a positive split for Max, but I love his mindset of trying to get me early in the loop and then either 1) sit on me, 2) work with me to work even harder, or 3) blow right by me! Kudos, it's hard to build that no-fear of "blowing up" mentality! A nice workout where this time I was conscious of my nutrition, so the legs felt decently good throughout.
