Ouch. Led the first two miles, then ran behind Wesley, then Teshome, then the athlete from Tanzania. Eventually the athlete from Tanzania, Teshome, and Alex Masai broke away from me. This happened at the four mile marker. Then I was about 6-7 seconds behind the pack. I tried to stay as close as I could so that fifth place wouldn’t catch me. At 9k I saw the Tanzanian athlete was slowing and was on his own. I began my sprint to the finish early so that I could secure 3rd. Then I could tell the other guys were slowing up the hill, and I slowly caught them both. Then when I got into the stadium the crowd carried me to the finish and I put kicked Masai.
