Best TT conditions I can remember in 8 consecutive years. Stoked to see Blake Macheras at the start and ride all the way to the top of the Geysers together. 20-years old on his first ride beyond about 120-miles. He did a great job of managing our power output and I felt pretty consistent most of the day. Rode with Eric House on the Silverado. His 24th TT, getting ready for Paris-Brest-Paris. Rolling with a randonneur and a MTB/crit racer cracked me up. Solo from the Geysers decent to Warm Springs. Then met up with Blake again for the first Geysers climb after which he pulled away with his youthful exuberance, superior power, and descending prowess. Got a bit warm on Skaggs but cooled down nicely in the valley section. I was pleased with my Skaggs section today. Ate some sandwich after the Kashia climb the rode solo to Fort Ross felling pretty good in the cool coastal air. Finished sandwich and some chicken noodle cuppa-soup at Fort Ross then climbed out of that puppy. Rode with a guy called Ben out of Caz to Monte Rio, blew through and onto Occi. Got caught by someone that did the later start time and then saw Ben again and rode over the li e together. Great day if you’re into that sort of thing.
