Rode hard with Jon till lunch picking up Pat Brodbent at the first van stop. Seeing the blinking tail lights 5km or so up the trail made our racer personalities come out and it was fun while it lasted but I paid the price with bonking just as I reached the lunch stop. Pat was kind enough to drag me to the hotel after lunch. Recovery mode activated - aka eat anything and everything :)
