Couldn’t feel my face at the beginning

Welcome to the jungle - the stinging nettle and poison oak jungle ☠️ 
Took the route at a fairly mellow pace; time could easily be improved. First three miles were bushwhacking and tree climbing and the back half proved even more painful with nettles over my head.
In ten years of running at PR, I’ve never seen the trails such a mess and I won’t be back this season because of it. Nonetheless, I’ve been wanting to do this since January for my birthday run (it was flooded at that point) and I was itching to check it off in better weather. In retrospect, I would happily have taken the mud over what I crawled through today.
Hot tip: call the park ranger before attempting
