"Without suffering as you have, you wouldn't possess the depth, humility, or compassion that define you as a human being." These profound words come from one of my favorite mentors, Eckhart Tolle.

Today's ride had its share of hardship. We didn't just scale the stunning Portet d'Aspet and the Col de la Cor; we also had to push through a persistent drizzle. Yet the reward for these daunting conditions often takes the form of spectacular landscapes, just perfect for snapping some truly stunning pictures. Our cameras, though not explicitly water-resistant, held up remarkably well under the bit of rain. And with the mystical mist surrounding us on our climbs, we found ourselves repeatedly in awe of nature's beauty. To quote @rikdevoogd during the ride, "I think I'm really falling in love with this part of the Pyrenees."

We had covered exactly 100 kilometers when we pedaled through the city of St. Girons, our appetites whetted for some snacks after a chilly and soggy descent. One of the many delightful aspects of France is its bakeries, where we found some delectable kilojoules to carry us through the final part of the day. Upon completion of the ride, we were absolutely spent - no wonder, given that I'd registered 279 watts that day. Next came the task of cleaning our bikes. Now, as I pen this, we're editing photos in the charming artist's house on the property of @chateausaintmartory.

Exploring this region with Rik, Stijn and Kimberly is an absolute joy. I feel confident in saying this isn't our last visit. But for the time being, we have two more days of riding to look forward to.
