I know a lot of you are confused as to why you couldn’t track me on the app and think that I didn’t run the race. I asked Berlin Marathon why I wasn’t tracked and they said that I didn’t have a chip on my shoe lace, then was told I was supposed to receive one in my bag at the expo yesterday. I only received a bib and lotion. I didn’t even have bobby pins or anything, which they said I also was supposed to receive. Because of this, I wasn’t aware and just thought that the cameras would have gotten proof of my finish. Also my time apparently was wrong. 2 of the directors said that I crossed around 2:17:44, (the clock was turned off when my group came in. ) I was happy because I knew my watch was off because at the half marathon we crossed at 1:08.06 and my watch had a completely different time. Also we we ran underneath the bridge the satellite in my watch didn’t register and went off even more. I explained to them that it was not right to disqualify me if I never received a chip, especially given the fact that I’ve never received one in my bag and I’m out here to qualify for the trials, and if I ran the time like they said I did, then they should do something. I told them to do something. Fortunately, they did all they could do and said that they are going to try and figure it out as to what’s going on but they told me I wouldn’t be able to communicate with their team until tomorrow because their staffing team is currently busy. So currently I’m not even getting credit for running in the race and if you look me up still, I won’t even be listed with a racing time at all. Just a did not start. Which is honestly really sad. Hopefully something can be done because this was probably one of the saddest news I’ve ever received at a finish line. Couldn’t really talk to anyone back home because of the time difference, so I had a major breakdown. Fortunately my friends here at the race were there to lift me up. They even said that my finishing time was in the 2:17’s which makes it even more frustrating. I’m just going to keep fighting and see what can be done. If I truly ran the standard, I want to get to represent in the trials and don’t think this is fair. I realize this is out of my control but I hope something can be figured out. They also didn’t put me in the elite group like I was told I’d be in and they put me in group A (which wasn’t too far behind) so we started after them. Overall the race felt great and I’m thankfully not even sore. I’m just going to probably try to disconnect from the world because I just don’t have it in me mentally at the moment to think about the situation. Been crying for a while and trying to stay positive. Thanks to everyone for supporting me. Keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow. My plan is to get this sorted out with the directors and bounce back from this but I’m just going to go to sleep and turn my brain off and try to keep my head up.
