Was ahead of pace through Gentian Pond for all of my splits (assuming these were right) and feeling pretty good until I projectile vomited all of my nutrition out in mile 19. I knew at this point it wasn’t my day for the record and for about 5 miles after that I was really struggling. Jogged it in after that and am proud of the effort considering the gi issues. 

A big thank you to Hillary Gerardi and Neil Clauson for the encouragement and beta. 

I’ll be back to pull it together either in a few weeks when I get back from the next trip or next season.

A few other general notes and takeaways -  weather was pretty good beyond the bit of moisture. However, lots of mist overnight made the trail and specifically the notch more slow than I was hoping. Slabby downhills and technical rocky sections would be faster on a more dry day. I would have preferred to have a few more days of recovery before and in the future I will not be doing any vert 10 days leading up to any race effort. My uphills were slow and this could have been mitigated with a better lead up and taper.

So grateful for Gene Leeds and Veronica Leeds for meeting me at the end, a ride home, and for always being the most amazing people. Grateful for friends like them.
