Old Willunga Hill has entered cycling lore as the stage that determines the overall winner of the Tour Down Under - the first World Tour race of the calendar year.

If you are visiting Adelaide you would be crazy not to experience this iconic ride. Our route takes you on an easy ride south to the wine region of McLaren Vale. At the 60km point, we start the 6km climb up Old Willunga Hill, with an average gradient of 7% and short sections of 13%. From here we trek along the hilltop Range Road to Mount Wilson and then enjoy a number of smaller climbs and descents on the way back to Adelaide where you should enjoy a well-earned beer or a nice McLaren Vale red.

It's an easy choice and one were you can truly gauge the power of the best riders in the world, who put it into the red zone as they challenge for the win on this worlds class climb.

The stage is owned by Australia's Richie Porte, winner of the last 3 TDU stages on Old Willunga Hill. Richie's first is still his best, averaging a staggering 27.1kmph, completing the 2.99km stage in 6.39mins. Nice work Richie.
