From Skiathea to Xanemos

This is about the absolute Skiathos coastal route, overlooking the Aegean sea and falling enchanted by the beautiful natural scenery. You will discover the southern-east coast line of the island reaching the northern-east coast line till Xanemos beach. Starting from Skiathea Villas you descend the track road hill and turn leftwards on the main asphalt road with direction to Skiathos town. While pedaling you have the chance to gaze panoramically at every beach you find on your way and, why not dive, and hop on - hop off! On your way you pass through the sandy beaches of Ag. Paraskevi, Kolios, Vromolimnos, Kanapitsa bay, Achladies, Vasilias and Megali Ammos. After 8,5km coastal road you turn right to Papadiamantis street, the main commercial road of Skiathos town. From late spring till early autumn months Papadiamanti street is not accessible from cars, giving you the privilege to safely stroll around Skiathos streets on foot or by your bike. Have a look through the countless picturesque shopping windows and have a stop at the end of Papadiamanti street at Bourtzi peninsula with your bike for a refreshment drink and some rest mode overlooking Skiathos old port. Stroll around with your bike till the end of the old port and then move towards the new port keeping your coastal direction towards the airport. Meet the "Ammoudia" neighbourhood of Skiathos with its sea restaurants and night clubs. You pass the windmill on your right hand and proceed till you reach Skiathos airport. Then you turn right for a half-circle ride around Agios Georgios lake, and then turn right again to continue towards Xanemos beach. Final stop after 1,5 km for some rest at Xanemos beach. Note that there are high possibilities to encounter some airplanes landings crossing over your heads on a low altitude (!!!) when reaching Skiathos airport right behind Xanemos beach. Many enthusiasts about that!!!
Your way back heads the same route, but you can alternatively, instead of returning to Skiathea Villas, continue till the end of the southern coast line and reach Koukounaries beach. The choice is yours! Many biking choices indeed!
