The first stage of your journey will depart Bici Bucerias at 7:00 AM (time to be adjusted based on sunrise and time of year). The ride start off perfectly with a nice flat roll through the valley. Once past the town of El Colomo we will cross the river. Depending on the time of year, we may have to hop in the car if the river is high. Get ready for a bit of gravel and your first taste of cobblestone as you go through Las Palmas.
Las Palmas is the gateway to the high mountains and there will begin our climb to el Paso de la Virgen (The Virgin Pass). The climb starts out gentle with a lot of up and down. THe last 11 km to get to the top of the pass is very steady with sections of 8 - 18%.
Once over the pass we will ride through a majestic pine forest and make our way to Mascota which will be our base for the next 5 nights.
