A cool butte with some strides

Jack is a big mountain. This was my first time to the summit, and my smoothness of route finding/scrambling was not the best. I did have a little navel gazing when I ascended directly to the ridge and immediately watched a boulder tumble to the Nohokomein. There was undoubtedly a lot of beauty in the day, and just standing atop this summit fills me with gratitude. 

A funny tidbit, there was another man who was exiting the S face as I was entering the route. He didn’t notice me as I snuck under him via a slight alternative, but he made some demonic noises which definitely added to the ambiance of the magnitude of Jack. I wondered if it was the mountain for about 2 seconds. 

To be totally honest, I’m 50/50 stoked/ not stoked with the effort. It’s not a pure onsite but it is my first time to the summit, so I’m proud of navigating safely and as effectively as I could to the top. The not stoke comes from My Achilles. It has been bugging me and today it wasn’t great, so the “runnable” parts were hard and explosively was a bit painful. # old man Mike ;)

Just one peaceful bear encounter.
