FKT: Downtown Gatlinburg to Cliff Tops out and back vertical mile

Morning Run

Beautiful day on the trail as a solo run.  Started at Gatlinburgh creek in downtown at the aquarium and made my way up to Cliff tops via Airport Rd and then Rainbow Fall trailhead via Trillium Gap.   Consumed 8 oz of water and a couple of fig newtons which i had in my camelback.  Next time I’ll run with just a bottle and a couple of Gu’s. Descent rather treacherous from cliff tops back to rainbow falls as there are so many shark fin style rocks and scree.  Fell a couple times but nothing too major.  Pacing wasn’t great today as the descent had many people ascending up to Leconte so i hope to get back up here in the Spring of 2026 and try again.
