Joined Bob’s merry band of retired riders today. Haven’t ridden in UCSC since 2021 when i used to hang with Blaise Hamel. 

EMT entry to Mailboxes. I’ve done the upper section 5 times but the lower section 3 times including today. More erosion, braking bumps and deeper drops were nothing compared to the steep exit Mailboxes is known for. I remember it being rocky but last time I rode this section was 2019. 

Subsequent years of winter rains exposed more of the baby heads. I tried to follow Bob’s line but soon realized I have to drive home in one piece. So walked the steep rock section 2/3 of the way and remounted where it was devoid of anything sharp and hard. 

Rode out of Wilder back to UCSC for Sweetness and less than a year old Escape Route. It’s a flow trail that rides like a compressed Flow Trail from Demo.

Then back to UConn to EMT to our cars. While the ride speed was chill, the quads/hamstrings are pumped from all the descents. 

Always more fun in a group ride. Thanks gents for being my guide.
