Not sure my lame intervals justified quite this pomp…

6x 3’ (off 2’ walk incl). Inspecting the flags on the Mall ahead of Steinmeier (and here I was thinking it’s all happening at Windsor again like the other recent state visits, thanks to the refurbishing of Buckingham). Those flags are humongous, I’d never observed before - you do wonder whether the palace (or Foreign Office?) has a basement room where they store 30 or 40 huge flags for 200+ countries each 🤔 Anyway, my plan was (somewhat optimistically) 3:40-3:50/km intervals, outcome was 3:50, 45, 52, 47, 50, 47 - with most of these impeded at least once by traffic / bikes / pedestrians, and some mild but measurable wind effect of Birdcage Walk (head) vs Mall (tail). In truth, anything sub-4 is still seriously hard work for now (and will remain so for a while). Still need to be careful with that left high hammy / hip joint / ischium area which can easily get stuck in response to tight turns… Oh, and an active crime scene in Embankment Gardens - you don’t see that often either…
