Turned into a really big and pretty tough day! It was all going well until we ran into the infamous Sicilian mud. I’ve never dealt with mud like this before and it caked and clogged everything. That was a big delay and by then we were pushing daylight for the last 10 miles which included a mountain pass, which we did in near darkness. Thank goodness for great front and rear bike lights! Arriving at our B&B in San Giovanni never felt so good. Luckily not as many packs of dogs today but Ross did carry a big stick just in case 😬
