After getting rained on and frozen yesterday, was planning on a nice and relaxing Zone 2 ride indoors this morning.

However as I lay my head down to sleep last night, what do I see but Roman Denisenko annihilating the Ohariu / Stage 1 segment (and relegating myself and everyone else on the WHCS leaderboard by 30 points!). Well such things cannot be left unanswered, so I bucked up and saddled up to make the most of the Southerly wind.

Legs felt pretty good heading in, but the speed of the first ~45secs had me spinning like a madman and burned some matches. Once the hills started I was able to find good cadences and only coasted down twice (but was then punching up the next one).

Stage #1: Ohariu northbound - 7:40 - avg 465W

Very happy to have come so close to Roman's time, but to be clear I blame him entirely for how my legs feel now 🤣😭
