I don't think I've been on this part since the pre-NET days when I thru-hiked the M&M trail in the early oughts. 

I wanted to see the river crossing. It's in the same place, but the trail to it has moved. I went down to it the old way following old faded blazes, but it was difficult with overgrowth, thorns, and blowdowns. 

The section to the south had some nice stuff, and some not-nice stuff, but the old fire tower was nice. That's where the pics are from. 

Snow running is hard, especially the first time. Much more effort required.
