Classic Old-School XC Loop with Trash Sister

Should’ve done this six months ago when I was at my absolute fitness nadir in 21.5 years of running, but I wanted to test myself at a low baseline before trying to train not only back to fitness but to actually get a little flat speed back in my legs this winter.

First “mile” effort since high school, a long long time ago, although I’ve certainly run miles much faster than this within other runs and races. Goal today was 6:30, targeting 95-99-99-97. Ran 91-96-99-100 for a 6:27.4, feeling very steady and controlled, definitely not emptying the tank. Pleased with how it felt, and glad to know I can still pace myself reasonably well. Curious and excited to see where I might be with a few months of training!
