This is an impressive event. It runs through the whole inner city, on wide roads that have large sweeping corner turns. 
How my race played out - After a bit of a chaotic start with so many people, from about 1.5km I was able to find my groove with a pace that I was looking to hold and feel comfortable with. 
The first 21km felt smooth, I was taking 5km splits and rolling with and through groups which gave me confidence in my run.
From 26km I moved forward off a group to try get rolling, this is when I was starting to feel the sting of the marathon.
From 30km to 34km I had a rough patch where my stomach was tightening up, I have had this a few times in the past and knew i needed to breath it out over a few kms to get rid of it. 
From 34km I caught onto the back of a pack of a group pacing a female athlete, this kept me honest with my pace for another 4km. At 38km I was hurting hard but managing to hold the pace. The last 6km of the Valencia Marathon is slightly downhill which I think is why this event is such a fast race. At 38km I fell off the group and was grinding hard to the finish. 
I managed to not blow too much out in the last 4km, and held on for a 2min PB. 
All in all, great experience!
