Phil Ligget telling us as the tour passes through how shepherds from Cervières banded together in the 1970s to prevent yet another ski resort from being built in this valley. They eventually turned the Col d'Izoard into a xc ski trailhead and skimo paradise. That's where we start this adventure, and I baptize my new 64mm race skis. A memorable first day in the Alps for me.
