Last week I stayed home due to a minor surgery I had done on my big toe.  Since climbing shoes fit tightly and compress the big toe, climbing was a no-go until the swelling had subsided enough.  Last night I checked, and I didn't experience the intense pain I felt a week ago when I tried wearing my climbing shoes.  So, today I was ready to see what new routes were available for us at The Studio.

On my way out I checked my weight and was horrified to discover I had gained a few kg in the last couple of weeks with my more sedentary life post-minor-surgery.  I now tipped the scale at just over 90 kg.  This extra weight might give me trouble on the climbing wall.

I left home a little late and took a faster route down to Frank and Stella's so I wouldn't be too late.  After waiting for a few minutes, only Frank emerged.  Stella decided to stay home to avoid the expected noise and crowds today.  I suspect also that she felt there wasn't enough new material for her to make a day of it, since she and Frank had visited only just last Friday.

Frank and I then proceeded to The Studio where we both spent some time warming up before beginning our session.

After packing up we left The Studio under still cloudy skies but dry streets.  Traffic was fairly light, but I still got caught at every signal on First Street as I rode north to Julian and then to Coleman and the Guadalupe River Trail.

While riding north on Guadalupe River Trail past SJC I slowed down to eat the second half of my lunch sandwich while I watched planes land and take off toward the south.

The rest of my ride home went as usual.  I got caught at signals at Lafayette and Corvin as usual, but with the unusual tailwind I rode quickly and arrived home at about 1530.
