Praise be to the cycling gods! First 200k since ITB injury in July. An overcast day, the countryside was muted under a grey sky and there were less than eight hours between sunrise and sunset. A moderate headwind most of the way made for tough conditions, so I was very careful not to push too hard, resulting in the slowest Peterborough ride that Julian and I have done so far. Plenty of cafe stops required as temperatures stayed stubbornly at about 7 degrees, with the wind chill making it feel colder. Some improvisation was needed as opening hours can be unpredictable at this time of year - Ambiance in St Neots was closed so it was back to Caffe Nero. In Oundle, Beans cafe had shut an hour early but the staff who were clearing up very kindly made us teas to take-out
